Mozaik Pasta is a treasured no-bake dessert, and it holds a special nostalgic spot from my Baba's childhood. This recipe is dedicated to my baba, canim benim. ❤️🍫

Mozaik pasta, also known as mosaic cake, is a no-bake Turkish dessert made with crushed biscuits, cocoa, sugar, butter, milk and eggs creating a marbled, mosaic-like appearance when sliced. In Turkiye most people prepare it with chocolate pudding powder, and while it is still delicious, my recipe has fresh ingredients like butter, eggs and milk-- giving it a richer flavor.

It is typically chilled before serving and is a popular treat for its rich, chocolatey flavor and simple preparation. Please note there are many different variations of this lovely dessert in Greece, Lebanon, Italy, Russia, Iran, Spain, Portugal, and many more...

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of milk

  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 100g Pettit Beurre biscuits

Instructions

  1. In a medium sauce pan combine the milk, butter, vanilla extract , egg and sugar over low-medium heat. Stirring until everything is well combined and eggs are cooked through, make sure to not stop stirring or else the eggs will get too chunky.

  2. Once everything is thoroughly combined, add the cocoa powder, mix, and take off heat. If the small egg whites bother you, feel free to use a strainer for a smoother texture.

  3. Break the Pettit Beurre biscuits and add into the chocolately mixture. In the video I broke it into halves but if you want a creamier Mozaik Pasta, its best to break it into quarters.

  4. On a large piece of saran wrap, put the chocolate cookie mixture and roll it into a log shape.

  5. Make sure to securely compress the log so that there are no air bubbles in the cake.

  6. Let it set in the fridge for 2 hours, the more the merrier! So don't rush this process, and overnight is even better.

  7. Slice the cake and voila! Enjoy :)
